About Me
José A. Betancourt is a composer and bassist with a solid background in music for film and television. He holds a Master’s degree in Arranging and Composition from Berklee College of Music, and has also completed courses in Composition for Film and TV and Film Scoring 101 at the same institution. His professional experience spans work as an arranger, transcriber, and orchestrator, in addition to an extensive career as a performer in theaters, musicals, cruise ships, and studio recordings.
His creative approach blends narrative sensitivity with technical expertise, always aiming for music to be in service of the story. This balance allows him to adapt to different genres and audiovisual languages while maintaining a personal and versatile voice.
He is a member of Musimagen (the Spanish Association of Audiovisual Composers) and of the Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE), institutions that endorse and support his work as a professional composer.
Under the artistic identity of José A. Betancourt, he develops a holistic vision of composition, exploring a wide spectrum of styles—from the intimate and emotional to the epic and orchestral—guided by the motto: “Music in service of story.”
